Westmill Wind are delighted to announce that our Chair of Directors, Mark Luntley, has been elected as the President of REScoop.eu, with Energy4All also elected to serve on the REScoop board for another four-year term.
A community of 2,500 energy communities across Europe, REScoop.eu offers a range of services to support projects which promote democratic solutions to the energy transition. Westmill Wind joined REScoop in summer 2022 and has already benefitted from the skills, expertise and experiences of other co-operatives in Europe.
With a pioneering history and a commitment to pushing forwards change in the community energy sector, Westmill Wind is poised to work with others co-operatives across Europe to create dynamic and impactful change across the continent, ensuring a fair and equitable energy system.
Mark Luntley shared his excitement on being elected as the new REScoop President:
“REScoop is just such an inspiring organisation. It has a fantastic multi-national team and each time I meet them I am humbled by their warmth, energy and expertise. One of REScoop’s real strengths is it shares and celebrates great practices, so when a bureaucrat says “that project can’t work” we can show them lots of different examples to prove them wrong. I step into some big shoes left by the outgoing President Dirk Vansintjan. My focus will be working with the board and team to agree a direction for REScoop for the coming four years, to support the management team and staff, and to ensure our board is an inclusive one where everyone’s voice is heard. I’m very pleased that Ilonka Marsalis from Energy Samen was elected REScoop Vice President. Our plan is to work closely together over the coming term.”
Elections took place at REScoop’s General Meeting after the European Energy Communities Forum in Kraków; a two-day event bringing together 180 impassioned citizens, community leaders and energy experts from 42 countries, united by a shared vision to drive change and democratise energy across Europe.
