Westmill AGM & Open Day Saturday 3rd May 2008
Over 600 members and guests attended the grand opening of Westmill wind farm on Saturday 3rd May 2008. Jonathon Porritt, Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission, officially opened the ceremony.
The AGM began at 11.15 am with over 300 of the Co-op members attending. The Chair, Mark Luntley, welcomed all members to the meeting and introduced the board of directors.
After the normal business was concluded Mark gave an update on the progress of the project to date. This included the electricity generation date of 19th February 2008, actual costs spent against budget and production figures to date.
Rod Blunden provided a presentation on the construction of the wind farm followed by a video of the events over the last four months of construction to erection of the wind turbines.
There was a presentation by Colin Bell and Eoin Lees on possible future strategic options for developing the Westmill Wind Farm Co-operative. These were examined in more detail in the three workshops that took place after the formal opening of the wind farm.
After the official AGM more members arrived to join in the celebrations. Jonathon Porritt formally opened the ceremony and with over 600 members and guests raised a glass to celebrate the official unveiling.
